Who we are Bar J Cattle is owned and operated
by Ray and Rhonda James. Our cattle enterprise is a family owned and
operated business. We aren't in the cattle business for show, and our goal
is to produce cattle that not only pay their own way, but that will go into
commercial herds and help them to also make a profit.
We are located approximately 60 miles west of Savannah, GA in Tattnall
County. We are involved in producing purebred Simmental, purebred Black
Angus and Simmental X Angus composite cattle. We also produce broiler
chickens for Fries Farms, Inc.
Our cattle are strictly culled on their own individual performance. We
will not market any animal that does not meet our selection criteria,
regardless of pedigree or hype.
We run around 30 PB Simmental cows, 30 PB Black Angus and 80 commercial
brood cows on 250 acres of pasture land. Our bulls are marketed through the
Tifton Bull Evaluation Center, the Canoochee Forage Bull Development Center
and the Optimum Beef Bulls Development program. We also sell bulls by
private treaty directly off the farm.
We
also offer a select group of open and bred heifers for sale by private
treaty. Be sure to visit our "Cattle For Sale" page to get the latest data
on what we have to offer your program.
We will be offering three purebred Simmental bulls, one purebred Black
Angus bulls and one SimAngus composite bull for sale in the Canoochee Forage
Bull Development Center Sale on Friday, October 26, 2007 in Glennville, GA
Recently, we were honored as the Ogeechee River Soil and Water Conservation
District's "Man of the Year" in soil and water conservation.
Shown pictured left to right: Adair Branch, Trey James, Rhonda James, Ray
James, Gina Brown and Lavanda Lynn. "One thing about farming and
conservation" is that both take a tremendous amount of effort. We credit our
neighbors for much of our success in the cattle business. |
